An exchange rate is the value of one currency compared with another currency. It tells you how much of one currency you can receive when exchanging another. Exchange rates move constantly and can be influenced by global currency markets, economic conditions and supply and demand.
Buying Foreign Currency
On our website, the Buy Cash rate applies when you are buying foreign currency from us using Australian dollars. For example, if our USD Buy Cash rate is 0.6500. AUD 1,000 × 0.6500 = USD 650. This means AUD 1,000 would buy USD 650 at a Buy Cash rate of 0.6500.
Selling Foreign Currency
On our website, the Sell Cash rate applies when you are selling foreign currency to us and receiving Australian dollars. For example, if our USD Sell Cash rate is 0.6800: USD 1,000 ÷ 0.6800 = AUD 1,470.59. This means selling USD 1,000 would give you approximately AUD 1,470.59 at a Sell Cash rate of 0.6800.
